Frequently Asked Questions

Your journey is safe with me. Below are questions to assist you on your decision.
WHAT IS A DOULA?
A doula is a trained, non-medical support person who provides emotional, physical, and informational support to someone before, during, and/or after childbirth.
They support and empower you to make the best choices for you and your family,
Doulas do not provide clinical care (no medical procedures, diagnoses, or prescriptions). They work alongside medical professionals (like doctors, midwives, and nurses), but focus purely on support and advocacy. Your doula is trained in all aspects of the journey to parenthood, starting from fertility all the way to the first year after baby.
Anyone who wants compassionate, informed support during pregnancy, birth, or postpartum.
Doulas support all kinds of people and families—there’s no “one type” of person who uses a doula. Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, whether you’re giving birth at home, in a hospital, or at a birthing center, a doula is there to support your unique journey.
People who hire doulas often include:
-
First-time parents looking for guidance and reassurance
-
Parents who’ve had a tough or traumatic birth experience before
-
Single parents or solo birthing people who want extra hands-on support
-
Partners who want help supporting their loved one more confidently
-
LGBTQ+ families seeking affirming, inclusive care
-
People planning unmedicated, medicated, or C-section births
-
Parents navigating fertility treatments, loss, surrogacy, or adoption
-
Families wanting smoother postpartum recovery and newborn care help
No matter your background, birth plan, or family structure—if you want extra support, a doula is for you. It's not about needing one… it's about knowing you deserve one.
WHO USES A DOULA?
WHAT ABOUT MY PARTNER?
As your doula, my role is to support both you and your partner. I’m here to help your partner feel more confident and prepared, not to take their place. In fact, many partners feel relieved having a doula present because it allows them to focus on loving and supporting you, while I help guide the process, offer suggestions, and hold space.
Whether your partner wants to be hands-on or needs a little coaching along the way, I’ll work alongside them as a team to create a more calm, informed, and connected birth experience. You both deserve support—and I’m here to offer exactly that.
Because birth—and postpartum—deserve support.
Hiring a doula means having someone in your corner who is fully dedicated to you. Unlike doctors or nurses who may come and go during a shift, a doula provides continuous support, helping you feel seen, heard, and empowered every step of the way.
Here’s what a doula brings to the table:
-
🤍 Emotional Support: Calming presence, encouragement, and reassurance before, during, and after birth.
-
💪🏽 Physical Support: Comfort techniques like massage, breathing guidance, and labor positions to ease pain and promote progress.
-
🧠 Informational Support: Clear, unbiased answers to your questions and help understanding your options—so you can make confident, informed decisions.
-
💞 Partner Support: Helping your partner feel more involved and less overwhelmed by guiding them in how to support you.
-
🍼 Postpartum Care (if applicable): Assistance with newborn care, emotional recovery, feeding support, and adjusting to life with a new baby.
Studies have shown that having a doula can lead to shorter labors, lower rates of interventions (like C-sections), and more positive birth experiences.
Bottom line? You don’t have to do this alone. A doula is here to walk with you, not lead or push—just support, gently and intentionally.
