Meet The Doula

I'm a 25-year-old birth doula originally from Brooklyn, New York but raised in South Florida. I enjoy painting, reading, listening to podcasts/music, dancing, and singing horribly in private.
After graduating from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in 2018, I was able to obtain my Bachelors in Social Work. A lot of my extensive expertise in Social Work is what led me to my passion to become a birth doula. The name Niyah Ashé came about with the name Ashé meaning power, command, and authority. It was a middle name provided to me by my mother at birth.
As your birth doula I hope you are able to see how powerful you are while you command your birth space in your authority as a woman, mom. wife. girlfriend. sister. friend. etc.I obtained my birth doula certification with NBDA (National Black Doula Association) in 2020.
Part of the reason I took interest in becoming a doula is that I want to contribute to lessening the risks of poor maternal health outcomes among women. Societal and health system factors contribute to the high rates of poor health outcomes and maternal mortality for women. Specifically women of color.
As your doula, I aim to provide the support that is respectful, spiritual, culturally competent, safe, and of the highest quality.
